Working for Equality for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender People

The Law Center has long been recognized as a regional leader in fighting for equality for all women.  To further that work, we bring lawsuits and work to pass legislation that will put an end to discriminatory employment practices, criminal laws that target people based on their sexual orientation, and family laws that fail to recognize and protect non-traditional families. 

Current Action:

• Fighting for marriage equality.

• Working to ensure that all families have the protections and benefits they need.

• Speaking out against policy changes in Washington Medicaid law that will ban payment for medically-necessary sex reassignment surgery.

• Educating the public about Washington’s new domestic partner laws enacted in 2007 and 2008.

• Challenging the denial of unemployment benefits to a worker who leaves a job to care for a domestic partner.
